Solothurn requires 2 years of cantonal residence and 2 years in the municipality. German (B1) is required.
Civics exam
Covers federal and cantonal institutions, history (joined Confederation in 1481, former ambassadors' seat) and geography.
Procedure and timelines
File at the municipality, then the Public Security Office. Expect 12 to 24 months.
