Uri requires 2 years of cantonal and municipal residence. German (B1) is required. Community ties are important in the process.
Civics exam
Covers federal and cantonal institutions, the William Tell legend, founding history and the geography of the Gotthard and Lake Lucerne.
Procedure and timelines
File at the municipality, then the Population Services Office. Expect 12 to 24 months.
